Permanent Memorial

The Memorial stands on a picturesque hillside at 601 W. Riverview Avenue, next to the Dayton Masonic Center and overlooking the Great Miami River, Monument Avenue Bridge, and downtown skyline.

It consists of an embedded oval plaza that features the eight-foot-tall Fallen Officers Wall, which is inscribed with the 49 fallen officers’ names, agencies, and end of watch dates. Its centerpiece sculpture is comprised of five 30-foot-tall steel spires that symbolize bird wings, which form a 5-pointed star at its base. And a Thin Blue Line connects the spires to the Fallen Officers Wall.

The Memorial was designed by James Dinh of California, who was the winning artist of our nationwide juried arts competition that garnered 58 proposals from artists in 28 states.

The 1-acre site was generously donated by the Dayton Masonic Foundation. The engineering and construction management services were provided by local architectural firm Earl Reeder & Associates.

Although most of the Memorial’s construction and landscaping costs have been covered, we still need additional contributions to fund its sustainability for generations to come.
