Annual Ceremony
Every year, on the first Friday in May we host an annual Memorial Ceremony—in honor of the fallen heroes from this county’s law enforcement agencies whose ultimate sacrifice helped keep their communities safe.
Leading up to the ceremony we stage a procession that features a combined agency Motorcycle Unit, Honor Guards, a combined agency Color Guard, a massed Pipe & Drum Corps, family and coworker survivors, and uniformed and retired Officers.
The ceremony features a number of sacred observances that follow military and law enforcement traditions—including the Presentation of the Colors, a 21-gun Salute, the Riderless Horse, Taps, and the American flag folding.
Following the Keynote Address and Survivor Speech is the Officer Roll Call—when the names of the fallen heroes, their respective law enforcement agencies, and end of watch dates are read aloud. During those moments of silence their respective family and coworker survivors come forward and place carnations into a symbolic wreath.
As part of each ceremony, we also award a number of $1,000 college scholarships. And afterward, we host a complimentary luncheon for the survivors in attendance.c

During the ceremony we award a number of college scholarships—with top priority given to the children and family members of the fallen and secondly to the children of living officers.
